Friday was a special double date with my brother and sister-in-law. They gifted Jason and I tickets to Jo Koy’s sold out show! I have been looking forward to his show for the longest time and let me tell you, it was worth the wait.
Jo Koy is a Filipino-American comedian who’s been around for quite some time. He first debuted on the Chelsea Handler show and had a special on Comedy Central too. But with the dawn of Netflix, his comedy special on there probably was his big introduction. His most memorable character in all his stand-ups is his beloved mother. She is like the Auntie I’ve never met; and there is always one in every family. She reminds me of my own Filipino upbringing which makes him all the more funnier and relatable.
After the show, us four went for Korean BBQ at Carbon Grill on Clement Street. I’ve had my share of all-you-can-eat KBBQ places (all with my brother) and this place was good! All the sides and meats that you typically see at KBBQ places was available and they even had fried egg on the menu. One of the dipping sauces was a creamy green cilantro sauce that went with everything – not traditional but still yummy. I give this place a 5 out of 5.
We don’t do Friday night dates as much as I’d like so this was a great night!
